Day 5 started out like the others except there was no headache this morning, I actually felt normal-ish. I wasn’t overly angry, thank god, I think the fiancée would have stabbed me in my sleep if I acted like that for another day. With a big farmers market that morning I hit the road with a massive jug of iced coffee and a couple white peaches (I personally think these are 1 million times better than the usual yellow peaches). My energy level was not as depleted as in the past few days but I still wasn’t my normal self, just kind of ‘there’. Made it through the market without punching any potential customers in the face, which is probably a good thing. Once home, it was time make a real meal and something with some flavor! Now for the real challenges of the day. One of my best friends was having a birthday/Beer Olympics party – FML. Upon entering nearly every person in the house offered us a beer or cocktail, I knew this would be a challenge. Fortunately our host had a surprise for us – watermelon is in full season in AZ and we have some of the best around. So she poured us a glass of pureed watermelon and mint – MIND BLOWN! This was the best thing I’d had in 5 days and I drank a lot of it! Challenge #1 completed. Now on to the REAL challenge of the day: popcorn and movies. I love popcorn – I mean, I LOVE the stuff and I go to the movies just for the popcorn (with Slavo Salt, of course!). My mom is the same way. So when I arrived at her house later that evening and she wanted to go see a movie I knew I was in trouble. Going to a party and not drinking is one thing but a movie without popcorn? You gotta be kidding me! In preparation I brought a small bag of mixed nuts and a jug of water. Fortunately, my mother is a saint and, sympathetic to what I was going through, refrained from having popcorn or a soda (movies are also the only place I ever drink sodas). The smell of popcorn was tantalizing and I think I actually got high from the smell. Challenge #2 COMPLETED – Day 5 Conquered.
